SEXTO SENTIDO
VOCAL-INSTRUMENTAL DUO

Get to Know Us
Sexto Sentido (Sixth Sense) is a Cuban vocal group with a vast professional career in the music and the performing arts. Over the years we have recorded 4 studio albums and contributed as vocalists, arrangers and composers to more than 60 albums in collaboration with other artists. We have also performed in concerts across Europe, Latin America and Africa.
Our work has been recognized, earning us First Place at the JOJAZZ competition (2001), four CUBADISCO Awards (2007, 2012, 2015), five LUCAS Awards (2010,2011,2014,2015). In 2009 they were named CULTURAL AMBASSADORS of goodwill by UNESCO.
All academically trained musicians, Sexto Sentido was created in 1997 as a quartet, but we have since evolved into a vocal-instrumental duo, focusing on expanding our work as vocal arrangers and educators. Our dedication and consistency have allowed us to collaborate with renowned artists such as Anga Diaz, Chucho Valdes, Cesar Portillo de la Luz, Omara Portuondo, Pablo Milanes, Silvio Rodriguez, Steve Coleman, Zucchero, Joao Donato, and many others.
Our second studio album, “Mi feeling” (2007), was named as one of the best Jazz albums of 2008 by LATIN BEAT magazine in the United States.
In 2015 we were invited by acclaimed singer-songwriter Luis Barberia to record the album “A Full”, which earned us a CUBADISCO award in the Fusion category that same year.
In 2015, we made the difficult decision to emigrate to different countries due to the political and economic situation in our homeland. This forced us to take a pause in our career until 2018, when we released our single "Yemaya en sol menor", followed by "Yemaya in sol mayor". Both songs, in addition to "Canto a Eleggua", one of our most successful and performed arrangements, form a tribute to the Afro-Cuban/Yoruba culture that will be the central concept of our next album.
